This guy beat Jack Sock 🤯

Plus, 3 new celebs just bought into Pickleball

Zero, Zero… 1, I mean, uhhh, oops 🤷‍♂️

This week, I had the honor of co-hosting with pickleball pro, Eric Roddy. If you don’t know Eric, him and his men’s doubles partner, Jim Dobran beat Jack Sock x Tyson McGuffin last week in Charlotte.

We talk about the match + pickleball’s hottest topics. Click below to watch the podcast.

If you want to help support Eric and his sponsors he’s hooking Sunday Dinking Club members up with a few discount codes.

THE GUIDE TO PICKLEBALL PODCASTS

Well, to be clear, it’s “the” guide because I wrote it. If you love pickleball and want more content, I compiled the top 10+ (sorry, too lazy to count) podcasts in the Pickleball world.

Check them out here. If you find a podcast you like, please share the article with your friends or on your facebook feed 🙏.

Pull out the red carpet

Celebrity interest in Pickleball continues to grow. Over 25 pro (or formerly pro) athletes now have ownership in Major League Pickleball teams.

Jayson Tatum and Josh Allen are amongst the newest MLP owners that were recently announced. More, here.

Time to get BALLsy

We’ve all heard about paddle delamination and everyone’s talking about how paddle manufacturers need to improve.

But, what about pickleBALLS?!

The MLP is testing new ball concepts that could change the game forever. It’s worth noting that there’s a lot of financial upside for a pickleball league like MLP to create it’s own ball, but given pickleball’s infancy, why aren’t we testing new ball types?

Pickleball’s a disease… And Jack Sock’s down with it

I’m pretty sure Jack Sock has caught the pickleball bug. He’s hooked!

Alright, alright, alright…

It’s overdone… But, since I’ve actually watched the movie 10x times, I’m doing it anyway…

Relegation is coming…

Major League Pickleball has been doing an awesome job promoting themselves and creating fun content surrounding their return to San Clemente next month.

This format (premier league, challenger league, minor league) is not new to the sports world (read: soccer), but it’s certainly new to pickleball.

One thing I learned this week is that all teams will get redrafted moving into 2024. But, who’s going to get relegated? Who’s getting promoted? And what will happen with some of the top talent on the team that’s relegated?

I suppose time will tell, but I can’t wait.

You can find me in the club 🎶

This place is pretty sweet. I’m hearing murmurs of such a place here in Greenville and I hope they come to fruition.

The “De La Rosa”

Sure, you’ve heard of the ATP, the Erne… maybe even the Bert. But, have you tried the De La Rosa?

InZane in the membrane

The Pickleball Studio finally released their Zane Navratil documentary from last year’s Columbus, OH MLP event.

Grab some popcorn 🍿 and enjoy.

Stock grip… Who needs it?

Ben Johns sure doesn’t. Check out his paddle set up, here.

New paddles are hitting the market

And it’s just the beginning of summer 🤤

Watch the pros

  • The PPA will be back in Atlanta next weekend. Catch the action in person or on Youtube.

Alright folks, I’m out. It’s time to play some pickleball.

If you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, share it with someone you’re dinking with later. Or better yet, send it to your entire group. Please?

Until next week, enjoy your Mother’s Day Sunday. Tell mom to have a dink on me.
